Doclayer vs Legora Tabular Review
For law firms and legal teams weighing a platform against a review tool that lives in their work board.
Of the legal AI platforms, Legora is the closest to Doclayer on the review itself: both put documents in rows and questions in columns, both keep the source beside the answer, and both let a person record a decision. The difference is everything around the table. Legora is a full legal platform with drafting and research. Doclayer is one review workflow that runs inside monday.com.
The short version
A law firm choosing a firm-wide legal AI platform, with drafting, research and review in one place, is choosing among Legora, Harvey and their peers, and Doclayer is not in that race. A deal team, in-house legal team or advisory firm that already runs its matters in monday.com, and wants cited review of the board's documents with the follow-up on the same board, is the case Doclayer was built for.
Side by side
| Doclayer | Legora Tabular Review | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A monday.com app with one workflow: documents as rows, your questions as columns, cited answers, reviewer decisions, publication to the board. | A legal AI platform for law firms and in-house teams. Tabular Review is one product beside legal research, a drafting and task agent, workflows, and Lists. |
| Where the documents come from | Files already attached to a monday board, or a direct upload into the review. | Uploads and connected document management systems, depending on the deployment. |
| Where the review happens | Inside a monday board view or item view. | Inside Legora's own application. |
| The review layer | Each cell carries a Clear, Issue or Question decision and an optional note. Rerunning a replaced document updates its row only. | Custom question columns, templates, source and reasoning inspection, Mark as Reviewed, Lock Cells and a Review Mode. Legora's published review layer is at least as complete as Doclayer's, and in places more granular. |
| What happens to a finding | Approved Issues and Questions become monday items with the citation attached; owner, status and due date live on the board. The table exports to Excel. | Lists turns document-derived tasks into tracked items with clauses, statuses, suggested owners and logged sign-offs inside Legora. Work products export to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. |
| Drafting and research | None. Doclayer reviews; it does not draft or run legal research. | A drafting agent that plans and executes across tools, plus legal research with citations. This is a substantial capability Doclayer does not have. |
| Answers without evidence | A cell can only cite passages the server already holds from the selected documents. Unsupported answers are reported as insufficient evidence. | Answers cite sources and show reasoning; Legora's public pages do not describe an equivalent server-side restriction on what can be cited. |
| Who can open it | Everyone authorized on the monday account, at no extra cost per person. monday Viewers get a read-only view. | Licensed seats. Buyers report minimum seat counts on some plans. |
| Pricing | Public. Plans cover one monday account and are priced by Review Units (one document through one review). Team is $299 a month for 100 units. | Sales-led, no public rate card. Buyers on public forums have reported quotes in the region of a few hundred euros per user per month before negotiation, sometimes with shared usage credits as an alternative. Those are buyer reports, not Legora's prices. |
| Hosting and data | Scaleway, European Union. Customer documents are not used to train models. Data deleted within ten days of uninstall. | Legora publishes security documentation and enterprise deployment terms; check its trust materials for the current region and retention terms. |
| Company | A small independent developer with a public roadmap. | A venture-funded company with enterprise sales, onboarding and support. |
Where Legora is stronger
- Drafting and legal research. Doclayer has neither.
- Review tooling depth. Lock Cells, Review Mode and Mark as Reviewed are finer-grained controls than Doclayer's three-way decision.
- Lists already turns review output into tracked work inside Legora, so "Legora stops at analysis" would be untrue.
- Scale: enterprise onboarding, document management integrations, dedicated support.
Where Doclayer is stronger
- The work stays in monday. Findings become items on the board the team already uses, next to the rest of the matter, rather than in a second task system.
- Evidence rules. A cell cannot cite text outside the selected documents, and unsupported answers are reported as insufficient evidence rather than filled in.
- Cost model. A public price per reviewed document, covering the whole monday account, no seat minimums. The deal lead who reads one table a month costs nothing.
- Self-serve. Install from the Marketplace and review ten documents free before talking to anyone.
Who should pick which
If the question is "which legal AI platform should the firm adopt", evaluate Legora. If the question is "how do we review the forty contracts attached to this deal board and track what we find", Doclayer answers it without leaving the board. Some teams will use a platform for drafting and research and Doclayer for board-level review; that is a reasonable outcome.

How this page was written
The Legora column comes from Legora's public product pages, help articles and blog posts as read in September 2026, plus clearly labelled third-party reports where Legora publishes no figure. Nothing here comes from a trial, a demo or a customer's contract. Legora changes its product; if something is out of date or wrong, email info@doclayer.ai and it will be corrected. The Doclayer column describes the app as shipped on the monday Marketplace. For the general method both products use, see what tabular document review is.
